Trekking tour 2

“Trekking is also about the art of improvisation”

Trekking in mountainous Shan State entails an informal exchange of challenges and rewards. One minute you may find yourself struggling up a steep hill but the next minute you are standing on top of the mountain enjoying an awe-inspiring vista across endless green hills or sharing a traditional meal with hospitable locals.

Day 1- Kalaw (Taryaw Trekking )

Meet at your hotel with our guide and car then transfer to the starting point to start the trekking for authentic Palaung tribes village called Taryaw. This village is about 9 Km north east of Kalaw and there are two ways to get to this village. First, you can take the forest route where you will be walking among the Pine woods and by side of small mountain spring. This way is a bit shady but some time it can be muddy. So rough trekking boots are recommended. Overall, this part is more beautiful. You also have another option like taking a horse or an Ox-cart. But this is only possible if you take the Ox-cart route. So it has two different track to get to this village. Both trekking parts would meet up at the village and they take almost the same duration like 2 & ½ hours.

Things to see at the village are Palaung ladies with their traditional costumes, tealeaf plantation and making cheroot raping using cordial leaves baking on the oven. The best part of this village is to see Palaung traditional Long House where 6 to 7 families are staying together. Lunch boxes will be packed for this day from Kalaw.

In the afternoon return back to Kalaw and overnight at New Shine Hotel (Standard room) in Kalaw.( L )

Day 2- Kalaw ( Pein Ne Bin Trekking )

After breakfast at the hotel, meet at your hotel with our guide and car then transfer to the starting point, trekking to the “Pein Ne Bin” Palaung tribe village which may take about 1-hour walk for one way from Kalaw. Then visit the Palaung Hills in Kalaw surrounding area and visit the hill tribe villages seeing them with colorful traditional costumes. Lunch box will be brought by our porter.

Afternoon return back to Kalaw and overnight at New Shine Hotel (Standard room) in Kalaw. ( B,L )
