Hsipaw
A scenic town Hsipaw is located in Shan State, on the banks of the Duthawadi River. With the pleasant climate and beautiful mountain ranges surrounded, Hsipaw offers off-beaten trekking opportunities. Another highlight about this trip is to enjoy the most spectacular views of the Shan plateau traveling one way by winding road with elbow crossing hilly drive and the other way by train with twisting and turning hilly trek.
Crossing over historic Gokehtaik viaduct will be an unforgettable experience. The railway line from Maymyo to Hsipaw is considered an engineering masterpiece. The famous Gokehtaik Viaduct, built in 1903 by Pennsylvania Steel Company, traverses a 300 meter deep gorge in the Shan mountains.
