After years of challenges, UNESCO inscribed Myanmar’s ancient capital of Bagan as a World Heritage Site on Saturday, 23 years after an initial attempt to have the site added to the coveted list. The announcement was made at the ongoing 43rd Session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee at Baku (Azerbaijan).
